These Dutch entrepreneurs are conquering the world with e-commerce
The nominees for the Cross Border top 30 were announced today by initiators Dexport and Twinkle. The ranking shows the fastest growing Dutch companies within the e-commerce industry abroad. The winner of the Cross Border top 30 will be announced during the Cross Border e-commerce Event on September 7, 2016 in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
Successful Dutch e-commerce companies abroad
Exports have traditionally been important to the Netherlands, accounting for 29 percent of gross domestic product. The fast-growing B2C e-commerce market, estimated at nearly 510 billion in Europe alone in 2016, offers Dutch companies enormous growth opportunities. Dutch companies are eagerly using e-commerce and can reach the world easier than ever with a webshop or marketplaces like Amazon.
An example of a young fast-growing company benefiting from this is the international online print platform Helloprint. In the past year, this company has grown by as much as 1000% outside its borders. Chief Marketing Officer Rick Molenaar of Helloprint says in an interview (YouTube): "It is a shame not to take the opportunity to roll out the model that is successful in the Netherlands internationally as well."
Enveloppenland.nl is also seizing the opportunities offered by cross border with both hands. The webshop has existed since 2009 as part of Koro PackVision and in recent years has expanded through e-commerce from 1 to 10 countries. Philip Steens, director, explains: "Cross border selling makes it possible to expand the assortment easily. Especially with the large volumes you can achieve by being active in multiple countries, you can very quickly get a product profitable in the market."
Cross Border top 30
To chart successful cross-border e-commerce companies such as Helloprint and Koro PackVision, German marketing specialist Dexport and digital commerce platform Twinkle have created the Cross border top 30. This is the first e-commerce list that provides insight into the fastest-growing Dutch e-commerce companies abroad. Companies with an online turnover of at least € 100,000 outside the Netherlands and a foreign turnover growth of at least 20% are eligible for this list. Nominees like The Sting, Flinders and Leapp are an inspiration for all companies with international e-commerce ambitions.
