Het bedrijf werd de afgelopen editie voor de tweede keer bekroond tot CrossBorder Top 30 bedrijf. In de nieuwe online serie De Doorbraak wordt haar bijzondere manier van ondernemen uitgelicht: het Open Hiring beleid waarmee ze mensen aanneemt zonder sollicitatieprocedure.
'Open Hiring' was first introduced in America. Almost 40 years ago, Bernie Glassman started Greyston Bakery in New York. Under the motto "We don't hire people to bake brownies, we bake brownies to hire people," the company wanted to create as many jobs as possible for people who were having trouble finding work.
The method was seen as a success. Thousands of ex-prisoners, homeless, elderly and unqualified people found jobs through Greyston. And now there is the company with Brabant roots that brought this method to the Netherlands.
MamaLoes Babysjop offers people the chance to work without applying for a job. "All we ask of those interested is that they have to be able to stand on their feet for four hours and lift at least 10 kilograms," he says. In fact, everyone starts with warehouse work. After that, Loes sees if and where someone could progress to, such as a customer service position.
Partly because of these strong core values and its social heart, the company is also very popular with Belgian and German consumers. Already twice, Loes' company was in the CrossBorder Top 30 and can call itself one of the most successful crossborder e-commerce companies in the Netherlands. Loes now employs 130 people and is thriving at home and abroad, yet for her money is absolutely not the driving force. "We do not believe in making profit or extra money, in becoming the very biggest or expensive cars, we believe in helping people and doing beautiful things."
